Welcome to The Fourteen Acres! I’m Leslie. I’m a wife, mom, grandmother, and a Nurse Anesthetist. My family and I live on a 14 acre farm in North Texas. We bought our first chickens in 2013 and I quickly became obsessed with egg colors and egg color genetics. Since then I’ve been on a quest to see how many different egg colors I can create through mixing breeds……. breeding specifically for egg color. I’m an avid gardener, a beekeeper, and a nature lover through and through. My Instagram (@thefourteenacres) has documented this journey and has also allowed me to meet a lot of amazing people along the way. This blog is a major step outside of my comfort zone.
